Hello

I’ve been working as a creative producer since 1999 and strive to make work that inspires expression, the use of art as a tool for social change or simply something beautiful to look at or think about. I’d like to think that some of what I do makes the world a better place through collaboration, the sharing of ideas, experimentation and technology.

I live for ideas and my passion lies in the creation, development and delivery of processes, concepts and inventions.  My background is in moving image production blending filmmaking, animation, live AV performance and projection design, this is underpinned by working with a strong network of collaborators including composers, interactive programmers, architects, magicians, hypnotists, academics and product/ graphic designers.

I split my time working freelance as a creative director/producer/consultant on both artistic and commercial projects, sometimes mixing the two to make art happen and co-directing the Jam Jar Collective, a group of artist/makers and creators of the open source infra-red graffiti project – Friispray.

Please see my showreel of art and projection works from the last 4 years and further below is a break down of the different approaches and ways I work.

Mobile Projections:

From camper vans, rickshaws and soon a swan pedalo, I am creating a series of work exploring this medium of strapping a projector to a moving vehicle and using the passing architecture and natural scenery as a moving canvas.

Large scale light & projection installations:

From a light installations in the once largest room in the world and 20 storey cylindrical buildings to projections onto civic buildings and 90m high quarries, I have been exploring projection mapping techniques and have some very interesting collaborations and projects happening later in 2011.

Interactive Installations:
From open source infra-red graffiti – FriiSpray, to interactive gesture based portraiture, to collective story telling in special schools. I have been repurposing technology to explore expression and currently researching interactive programming.

Moving Image:
From documentaries, music videos, motion graphics, idents, film titles and stop frame/ 2D/ 3D animation. I have spent the last decade defining my style and approach to moving image influenced by direct cross over with the other elements of my practice and technology.

Performance:
I have been performing live visuals at festivals, clubs, forests, markets, theatres since 1999 playing with names such as Valve Sound System, Roni Size, The Electric Dr M, Lemon D, Scratch Perverts, Cut Master Swift, Dizzee Rascal.

Collectives:

Jam Jar Collective:
We are a collective of makers, doers and designers with backgrounds in interactive programming, electronics and guerilla projection, we like to have fun with technology making projects such as FriiSpray – A open source infra red graffiti installation.

Digital Media Labs
